The following is a listing of accidents from 1983 to the present.  Some of the reports are a short synopsis while others are a complete and detailed review.  If you read them all you will see that the leading cause of accidents and incidents in these aircraft is fuel exhaustion. No matter what you think about the accuracy or design of the fuel system it is the pilots responsibility to properly manage the fuel supply.

The F.A.A. will always find the pilot at fault in cases of fuel exhaustion.

     Always visually check the fuel quantity before every flight.  Know how many gallons your engine burns per hour and keep track of your fuel quantity by your flight time. When in doubt, Top off the tanks.  Fuel is cheap compared to replacing you or your aircraft.
